BOBSC Bulletin: Lincoln Vulcans/Winter Yorkshire Competition
The following meets are licensed at level 2 for entry into Nationals, Regional and County Championships.
Winter Yorkshire Competition, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October 2015 at Ponds Forge Sheffield
A list of swimmers with qualifying times to date is attached, all swimmers with times are expected to attend this meet
Entry fee: £5.00 per swim
BOBSC closing date is Sunday 13th September 2015
Lincoln Vulcans Short Course Open Meet, Saturday 17th October 2015 at Ponds Forge Sheffield
Qualifying times must have been achieved since 17th October 2014
Age is at 31st December 2015
Entry fee: £6.00 per swim

BOBSC Bulletin: BMSL Individual Championships/Sheffield City B Grade Meet
The following meets are licensed at level 3, for entry into Regional and County Championships and meets at level 1 or 2.
The Alec James Barnsley Minors League Individual championships 2015, to be held Saturday 7th November at Knottingley Pool, Knottingley.
Morning session will be 9,11,13,15 yrs
Afternoon session will be 10,12,14,16 and over.
The League rules on eligibility apply; any swimmer who takes part in the Yorkshire winter championships and reaches the final 8 in an event must withdraw from that event in the Individual Championships and their entry fees will be refunded for that stroke.
Entry fee: £3.00 per swim
BOBSC closing date is Friday 18th September 2015
Sheffield City 27th Annual B Grade Open Meet, to be held Saturday 21st November 2015 at Ponds Forge Sheffield
Please note that 9 year olds can only swim in 50m Events and the 200IM
Entry fee: £5.50 per swim
BOBSC closing date is Friday 11th September 2015

BOBSC Bulletin: British National Championships
Hi all,
It's that time of year again when all the hard work over the last 12 months
come together to race at the national championships!
This year we have again achieved two national qualifiers to compete along
with the best swimmers in the country at Ponds Forge!
Thomas speed will be competing in the British national championships and
Libby Turner in the ASA summer national championships!
All the races will be streamed live through the British swimming website.
Tom will go into the meet competing in the 50m breaststroke on Wednesday
29th, 100m breaststroke on Friday 31st and the 200m breaststroke on the 1st
August.
Libby will then go into the ASA summer nationals competing in the 200
individual medley on Tuesday 4th August and the 100m freestyle on Thursday
6th August.
This is a very exciting time for the club having swimmers competing in both
national championships and on behalf of everyone in the club I would like to
wish Libby and Tom the very best of luck at Ponds Forge over the next two
weeks!

CHAIRPERSON REPORT 2015
THE LAST 12 MONTHS IN BOBSC HAS SEEN LITTLE OR NO CHANGE TO THE PREVIOUS 12 MONTHS, GALAS HAVE BEEN ORGANISED , TIME TRIALS ARRANGED AND ALL THE OTHER MULTITUDE OF TASKS THAT MAKE A SWIMMING CLUB HAVE HAPPENED. UNFORTUNATELY ALL THESE TASKS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED BY THE SAME TIRED PEOPLE , WITH LITTLE OR NO HELP FROM OUTSIDE THE COMMITTEE. THE RESULT OF THIS OVER WORK HAS MADE THE COMMITTEE VERY SHORT SIGHTED, THEY ARE TOO BUSY DOING TODAYS WORK RATHER THAN PLANNING TOMORROWS.
ALL THE ROLES ON THE COMMITTEE ARE OF EQUAL RESPONSIBILTY AND THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY EASY OPTIONS, IF YOU ARE DOING THE JOB TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY. SOME ROLES ARE MORE PUBLIC THAN OTHERS BUT ALL ARE JUST AS IMPORTANT AS EACH OTHER. THE ONE ROLE ON THE COMMITTEE THAT NEVER RECIEVES ANY THANKS IS FUND RAISER , AS THEY ONLY GET CRITICISED FOR NOT RAISING ENOUGH FUNDS.
WHY DO WE FUND RAISE? THE ANSWER IS EASY WE FUND RAISE TO SUBSIDISE THE FEES OF THE WHOLE CLUB AND ALSO TO GIVE US SOME SPARE MONEY TO SPEND ON THE SWIMMERS. SELECTION BOXES AND EASTER EGGS ARE EXAMPLES OF THIS, BUT SOMETIMES WE MAY PIGEON WHOLE SOME FUNDS FOR A SPECIFIC CAUSE. AS A CLUB WE ASK OUR MEMBERS 2 OR 3 TIMES A YEAR TO HELP OUT AT VARIOUS EVENTS , ALL OF WHICH ARE INTENDED TO RAISE FUNDS FOR OUR CLUB AND OUR SWIMMERS. ONE SIMPLE WAY TO RAISE FUNDS IS BY SELLING RAFFLE TICKETS. TWICE A YEAR WE ASK OUR MEMBERS TO SELL SOME RAFFLE TICKETS ON BEHALF OF OUR CLUB. THIS IS AN EASY WAY TO EARN MONEY FOR OUR CLUB. WE DON'T EXCPECT OUR MEMBERS TO BUY THE TICKETS JUST BE A LITTLE ANNOYING AND SELL THEM TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY. AT THE LAST SUMMER SIZZLER 82 SETS OF RAFFLE TICKETS WERE HANDED OUT. THIS COULD HAVE EARNED OUR CLUB AT LEAST £820. IN REALITY THE FIGURE IS A LOT LESS. ONLY 30 FAMILIES BOTHERED TO SELL ANY RAFFLE TICKETS AT ALL, WITH 2 FAMILIES RETURNING ALL THEIR TICKETS AS THEY WOULD RATHER NOT HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR OUR CLUB. IN SHORT YOU CANNOT HELP PEOPLE WHO WILL NOT HELP THEMSELVES.
OVERALL THE MEMBERS OF BOBSC SHOULD BE PROUD TO BE PART OF BOBSC AND THE COMMITTEE SHOULD BE PROUD OF THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS.

Hi all,
Due to the AGM and race night taking place this Saturday 25th July, training for all squads will be brought forward by 30 minutes.
-Juniors, junior development & intermediate squads will train 3:30-4:30pm
-A2, Youth & A squads will train 4:30-6:30pm
There will be no land training for all squads
Please note: This is only for the date of the AGM & race night. All training will return back to normal after this.

BOBSC Bulletin: Race Night
Race night is next week 25th July at the Dale Tavern. Doors open at 7.30pm.
Attached is a list of all horse owners for you to look at and there will also be a pig race to auction on the night.
Raffle tickets are now on sale at training and on the night.
This will be a night of fun for both swimmers and parents. 'Remember all funds raised will help subsidise the cost of this year's presentation night.'

BOBSC Bulletin: July Time Trials
Time trials will take place Friday 10th July at Dearneside Leisure Centre.
Warm up is 6.00pm.
All normal training is cancelled for anyone not taking part in the time trials.
Entry fee is £1.50 (children free), which includes a programme and raffle tickets.
