BOBSC Bulletin: Parental consent for the use of photographs by BOBSC (for swimmers up to 17 years of age)

Dear Parents

Thank you to those of you who have already returned the photography parental consent forms.

This is just a reminder that the box for replies will be making further appearances at Dearneside on Friday 3rd October and at Hoyland on Sunday 5 October.

In a small number of cases the original email sent on 24 September bounced back from some email addresses and those parents concerned have been provided with paper copies.

If this email means nothing to you and you have received neither the original email nor paper copies please let me know by emailing press@bobsc.co.uk.

If for any reason you are unable to print the form I will arrange for some more paper copies to be placed on our noticeboard at Dearneside.

BOBSC Bulletin: BOBSC News

Natasha strikes gold at the North East Region Championships………..

Many congratulations to Natasha Oates, 18, on her impressive swimming performances and on collecting a hat-trick of medals at the ASA North East Region Disability Championships 2014 which were held at the Hydro Pool Harrogate on Sunday 22 September.

Natasha won Gold in the 200m Freestyle, Silver in the 100m Individual Medley and Bronze in the 100m Backstroke!

The Championships are a multi-disability event where swimmers with different categories of disability race against each other; race times are then benchmarked against the world record time for each category; and are then are converted into multi-disability points. Medals and places are awarded based on the highest number of points.

Natasha is a category 14 swimmer.

In the 200m freestyle, 100m Individual Medley and 100m Backstroke Natasha’s medal positions also matched her positions based on race time. Her other results were 4^th in both the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly (finishing 4^th on race time as well) and 7^th in the 50m Freestyle (finishing 5^th on race time).

BOBSC Bulletin: City of Sheffield teaspoon meet/BOBSC Results

Hi all,

It's was a fantastic weekend at pondsforge for the city of Sheffield
teaspoon meet.

From a team of 25 swimmers the borough of barnsley swimming club achieved an
outstanding 60 personal best times, 1 -1st place, 1 -2nd, 2 -5th's, 3
-6th's, 2 -7th's, 1 -8th and 1 -9th position!

Well done to all who competed and a special thank you to john barker, Diane
Richardson and Sandra Clarke for your superb work on pool side!

BOBSC Bulletin: November Time Trials

 

 

November Time trials to be held to be held Friday 7^th November 2014 at Dearneside Leisure Centre, 6.00pm warm up.

 

In accordance with ASA recommendation 100m events for 9yr old swimmers are not permitted, except 4x25m Individual Medley.

 

Anyone who has any queries re the time trials please see me at any training session or contact me competitions@bobsc.co.uk

 

All completed forms can also be returned via e-mail

 

Please choose only two swims, please check the running order which is on the right hand side of the entry form.

 

No Splits will be official and ASA rules apply.

BOBSC Bulletin: THANK YOU

 

Hi All

 

A big thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets at the Club Champs on Friday and also a massive thanks to everyone who has donated raffle prizes recently, its very much appreciated.

 

As you are aware we had a bag pack event on Saturday at the Co op in Hoyland , its only a small store with 3 tills

but with the help from the staff who donated all the prizes and ran a tombola for us we managed to raise a fantastic £471.21

so a big well done and thank you to all the swimmers and parents who took part and made the event a success.   

 

I am aiming to secure a bigger back pack event at Tesco or Morrisons or hopefully both so keep a look out for the e-mails giving details as its an easy way of bringing in extra funding to the club but we can only do it with the help of both swimmers and their parents.

We have had some very exciting news week for Thomas Speed in A squad.

 

From the high performance swims Thomas has produced over last season he has earned himself a place on the Yorkshire teams representing the county and the England talent regional beacon programme for the north east!

 

This is a fantastic achievement for Thomas and goes to show with a lot of hard work you can achieve your goals!

BOBSC Bulletin: HOYLAND CLOSURE

 

To All Members,

 

Hoyland Leisure Centre will now close week commencing Monday 3rd of November. There will be no change to training until after this date.

 

Some people have been asking about our relocation plans, so here goes:-

All Sunday PM training will relocate to Royston Leisure Centre.One of our even sessions will be replaced by an early morning at the Metro Dome. Most our the other sessions at Hoyland will be worked into our current program.

I am writing to advise you that we have appointed a squad coach to take over the A2s.

Misha Carter brings with her a wealth of experience to the Club and many of you will remember her from a previous spell here when she also looked after the A2 squad.
