To all parents/guardians/swimmers
Further to my email below sent on 18th April 2016;
To all parents/guardians/swimmers
In line with ASA recommendations as well as BPL requirements, please can I remind you all that mobile devices with the ability to take photographs are not permitted to be used on poolside or in the changing facilities. This includes their use even if not actually taking photographs. There is an exception to this at official competitions if the photography record book has been signed.
May I please remind you all of the ASA safeguarding regulations which are in place to safeguard all of our children and vulnerable adults; The use of mobile devices with the ability to take photographs and/or video are not permitted to be used on poolside or in the changing facilities. This includes their use even if not actually taking photographs. There is an exception to this at official competitions if the photography record book has been signed. By signing the photography consent you are agreeing to taking photographs and/or videos for personal viewing only. I am aware that as parents we are proud to share our children's achievements, however the posting of photographs and videos on social media is not permitted where there are other children visible without firstly gaining consent from the parent or guardian of those children. This is inclusive of children in the race, waiting behind the blocks, in the background on poolside or merely spectating. The ASA are very clear on these rules and they can be viewed in the ASA Wavepower document which is available to view online at http://www.swimming.org/asa/clubs-and-members/safeguarding-children/
I have been made aware that there have been videos uploaded to social media following Friday evenings club championships gala which include children without parental consent. Please can I ask that these videos are taken down without delay.
Swimmers will be allowed to use their phones or tablets to listen to music or play games etc whilst they are waiting for their heat, however the camera on their device will need to be covered by a sticker or tape.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Regards
